Probably one of the most popular envelopes used today is the 5 x 7 envelope, and most of us know that and use them often.There are a lot of different types of envelopes though, which are used for various purposes that you might be curious about.

Envelope Weights

Construction of envelopes are made in a variety of different ways, including different weights and thicknesses. They are measured on a scale known as GSM, or Grams per square inch. This is the same method that is used to grade paper. The thicker the paper or card, the higher the GSM number will be.
