Date February 14, 2009

Brushing of your dog’s teeth regular is the best way to prevent problems. Brushing keeps his teeth clean which reduces the risk of gum disease. You’ll be able to clean your dog’s teeth and take care of his mouth without too much difficulty. It should become part of a routine, like grooming. Also regular vet checkups and proper dental care are essential, no matter what your pet eats.
Remember to get toothpaste specially formulated for your pet, do not use human toothpaste which will upset your dogs stomach. Given your dog a bone to chew on which helps scratched the plaque off his teeth is also helpful. Gum disease can be painful and cause tooth loss, bone loss, bad breath and infection. The bacteria that grow in an infected gum can also spread to other parts and effect your dog’s health.
