How to Grow a Basic Herb Garden
November 13, 2008
Herbs are some of the simplest, easiest and most interesting plants to grow both for your indoors and also for your outdoors. One of the reasons for this is because herbs have so many benefits. Herbs are often used for cooking, tea, medicine, skin care and fragrance. Some people grow their kitchen herbs indoors, in the kitchen of course. Others like to grow their various herbs outdoors in the garden. Growing a basic herb garden, whether indoors or out, is the perfect project for a beginning gardener. First, you need to decide what kind of herbs you want to grow.
If you enjoy herbs for their fragrance, you should consider growing aromatic beauties like lavender, lemon verbena, and various types of mint. You can even find kits for scented flowers and herbs like the chocolate scented daisy and tangerine scented marigold. Maybe you want herbs for tea. If so, you should consider growing herbs like mint, hyssop, lemongrass, sage and of course, chamomile. For the kitchen, you may want to grow herbs such as thyme, basil, parsley, chives and rosemary.
