About Binocular

Date March 26, 2008

Lens coatings are the latest evolution in optics technology. Coatings have the ability to screen out undesired wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum, such as ultraviolet light. Coatings can also make the lenses more resistant to variations in temperature or humidity. The highest level of coatings available is fully multi coated lenses. The quality of the lens glass used in the optics is critical to image quality. The two primary glasses in use are BAK-4 and BK-7. The BAK-4 produces brighter images than BK-7, but has a higher cost. If you have the money, go for BAK-4 glass in your binocular optics.
